We are approaching WFFP GA 4 very soon, in November. World coastal communities faced series of disasters and WFFP too undergone severe hardships last three years and we are recovering our pains up to now.

2004 December, Tsunami devastated our Asian and African coastal communities and was the most destructive and painful time during the three years. WFFP intervened the recovery process very effectively and supported our brothers and sisters amidst our difficulties.

Pakistani people experienced the earth quake and still pains are there. US citizens faced cyclone Katrina and it was proved even the most powerful nations too can not avoid the destruction.Our Honduras Brothers and sisters experienced cyclones and floods several times during the time period.So, it was very clear the climatic changes are very common phenomena and we need to overcome this involve with very effective mechanisms.

So, as WFFP we proposed an autonomous disaster management and mitigation authorities in every country, in which has the full power to face the human and ecological challenges to the human kind.During the time of WFFP GA4 we want to highlight this as one of the major and immediate need at WFFP Global Fisheries Policy.

Also, it is very important to take effective measures to launch the effective regulations on ILO Labour Standard Convention. Small scale, artisanal Fishers will meet this year and will articulate their issues and plan out for the coming 3 years as they want to unite and struggle for their survival, life and livelihoods.

We invite every WFFP member to get ready with their own country situation report, achievements and future plans to be involved as a fisher people's organization.

We do hope, with our fullest cooperation and unity, we can make the WFFP GA 4 as a historic event.
